Here is the full life cycle of the Monarch butterfly.
We have the eggs on the milkweed plant.
The catepillar.
The chrysalis.
The butterfly!

After 2 weeks the Monarch emerges from the chrysalis and flies away!

This is a knitted set I made up for my 2 yr old who loves "bubbles". The butterflies are wintering here in Santa Cruz at Natural Bridges Park down the street. It is so nice to watch them flying about in the last warm rays of sun.

My Knitting Basket

How I love the random order of my knitting basket.
Mine now contains an unfinished sock, a finished baby sock, a pair of finished longies, a baby sweater, booties, some loose bamboo fiber, my carders, some Christmas cards and cough drops, all topped off with some unwashed handspun.
Ode to the basket o' fiber!

Third Skein.....Desert Sunset

So this is a single ply BFL that I divided up and plyed to make a aran/bulky weight yarn. The single that I knitted up into a baby hat is so super soft and sheeny, I love this colorway. It was handpainted by vedabliss.etsy and was part of a wonderful trade.

Be Kind- Rewind and Recycle Wool

This little skein called out to me this morning as I noticed a lonely gapping hole in a favorite purple sweater from my childhood. Instead of sending the sweater to Goodwill I decided to recycle it and turn into something new.
TaDa! Violet Fire was born.
It is a two ply wool mohair blend mixed with a handspun BFL single that was hand dyed.
Now I must decide what to make with it.... a new way to love my old sweater.

Three Skein Day

Here is the first skein I worked on today. It is a laceweight merino single and a chunky BFL single plyed. It is so super squishy, the best of both worlds, my two favorite fibers. Both are from humane no chemical farms which make them that much more snuggly. :)
